Pressure plates keep disappearing
« on: September 29, 2006, 09:54:00 pm »

I'm setting up a super-awesome siege defense that relies on a pair of pressure plates in my entry hall, but just as my mechanics are about to put the last mechanism in, they disappear completely.  I know they aren't hidden, because I can build a new pressure plate where the old one was.

Was the trigger set with "effect permanent"?  I think that makes them disappear when they are stepped on.  This might be the default setting, which means that unless you know about it, they'll be hard to use.  I should probably set the default different and make triggers that aren't hooked to anything not disappear.

Yeah, I guess that would do it.  I was using "effect permanant" because I thought it simply required a lever to reset it, and the other mode ended as soon as the pressure was released from the plate.  I take it the other mode works like I figured "effect permanant" does?

The other mode works every time the plate is stepped on I think, if there's been some time in between...  there is no good modE!1!

I really think we need proper 'one way' levers and plates, so we could have (say) a plate that always opens a floodgate, doing nothing if it's already open, or a lever that always closes it.

Hmm...  actually, I have a better idea for what we need...  I'll put it in the Suggestions forum.
