I've noticed that you can't select squads if you're on a different level than a squad. However, if you goto a level with a squad, select it and THEN change levels it uses the squads at the level you first selected.

To illustrate this:

^ <- If your view is here, you can't select the squad.
- <- Squad here.
v <- Same here.

Seconding. I had the problem where I started on a goblin tower thing (pink pi's). I didn't figure out the workaround though.

There are a few problems with squad selection now (sometimes it just doesn't work).  I'll have to mess around with it.
