Update: in mk2 of my danger room, I used 1 spear.  It's going well, if slow.  My latest recruit has brought her infant in with her.  Grabbin some popcorn.

edit; The spikes are preventing corpse retrieval and now THE BABY GHOST HAUNTS THE FORTRESS

There's probably something I'm not getting in the repeater design, but wouldn't the water eventually become so high the bridge is always closed? In other words, what gets rid of the water after the bridge closes?

when the bridge opens and the lower floodgate closes (raises up) the floodgate destroys the water that was on it's square.

Bridges and floodgates have an alternating "open" state.  When the pressure plate's off, the bridge is open, the gate is closed... pressure plate off, bridge is closed gate is open.  If you use two doors, they'd both be either open or closed at the same time (you can't stagger them).

I will put this into practice. I have a series of steel spikes in my entrance hall that are begging to be endlessly repeated.

Many thanks.
