Here's a nice fixed-with font that really works well for DF.

I found a free fixed-width font called Anonymous Pro a while back via Reddit, and I just now realised how nice it is for Dwarf Fortress. Here are a few shots to show it off:

Hey Erisiah.
Wonderful find you have here.
How would one go about adding it -- What files would need to be modified?
Once again, thanks :]

I figured it out, Download the font pack, then take the Anonymous Pro B.ttf from the zip archive and rename it to font.ttf, then drop that into data->art youll also have to have truetype support on in the init file

That is a very nice looking font.  I've been using FixedSys Excelsior doubled to 24pt, but I'm going to at least try this one.

Does it have all of the different special characters to show quality?

It lacks one or two, unfortunately. Exceptional quality and masterful both look the same. The selection bar on the unit screen in Dwarf mode also doesn't recolor right, it's just a solid white bar. Which is weird because it displays fine everywhere else.

Other than that it's very nice, clean font with no other issues.

Very nice! I don't like how the letters aren't solid colors, but if for some reason the default tile-based font stopped working this is probably one of the fonts I'd consider using.

Oh that is nice. Normally I'm not fond of serif'd fonts being used in situations like this (the one that ships automatically with DF is particularly atrocious) but this one actually works out quite nicely.

From looking at the Windows Character Map, the font has all the standard ASCII characters, so it should have no problem displaying. I don't have any masterpiece or exceptional items in my forts yet, so I can't say anything about them ???

The selection bar problem is a problem within Dwarf Fortress itself, however, as it happens to any TTF font that I've used (the default and Liberation font included with Ironhand's mod).

I'm glad people like it, though.

It lacks the gender and masterwork icons.  I've been using this one with truetype, which has genders, but still no masterwork :<

Did you check with a program other than DF?  It may not be the font that's lacking, but the code for handling TTF not translating the characters properly.  I know this is happening a lot with accented characters and such.  So the font may be good, and we just need to wait for a bug fix.  (How familiar.)

What tileset/graphics pack am I seeing in the third screen?
It looks nice!

On another note, has anyone noticed a problem with exceptional quality with using other TrueType fonts?

Edit: It looks like you're using the "Ironhand and Wormslayer's Graphics Pack". Is that correct?

There is a number of characters that just dont want to show up in truetype, the exceptional item symbol is one of them. If I remember correctelly the item decoration characters are also missing. I tried adding them through a truetype editor, but even after finding the correct character code it just wouldnt show up.

I am using Ironhand's mod, and it is his tileset that you are seeing.
