Indeed. In fact, isn't that covered by making military items owned and then stating "all owned items will be repaired"?

I think military items aren't technically owned, unless they get named/Urist McUseless has grown attacked to a copper spear.

This is a platinum warhammer. All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. it menaces with spikes of platinum.
there is an image of the goblin Utes Gozrusrozsnus and dwarves in elf bone. The goblin is making a plaintive gesture. the dwarves are striking a menacing pose.
this image relates to the slaying of Utes Gozrusroz

Ah. I made myself unclear. I meant that it could be covered by making them owned and then fixing all owned items (no exceptions).

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.

Gotcha. Would have to make them unowned again when reassigned, or we would have veteran dwarf warriors with 12 suits of armor, and a weapon for each day of the week(actually awesome when you think about it).

Scheduling is a more likely way of handling armor repairs.

Heh. True. An oversight on my part.

True or dwarves would always randomly be missing parts of their gear for repairs. But how is it decided which items get repaired first and how do we insure that each dwarf gets his proper gear back, or handle changes in equipment while previous equipment is being repaired?

They're problems no matter what solution we use, but they must be answered.

Perhaps have repair priorities default to something like "weapons, shields, helms, etc" but be alterable in the military screen?

I do like the idea of scheduling repairs. Perhaps allow something like the old "carry two weapons" option in 40d as well, since then you can give on-call militiadorfs spare armour for when theirs is in the shop. Or possibly have a pool of spare armour/weapons for a similar purpose?
