I'm interested in making a 'golem fortress' mod where a gendered pair of physically small and weak 'architect' castes are able to construct 'worker' castes from wood, metal, and stone. I would like to restrict the architect caste's ability to do hard physical labor effectively using the skill tags, and give each type of golem caste varying natural abilities based on material type and subtype, i.e. giving wood golems natural farming abilities, rock golems mining and woodcutting and smelting, and metal golems military skills. Adamantine golems would be slightly faster than other golems and would have the ability to learn skills outside of their basic work domain, including the ability to make golems, and would also have enough intelligence to speak and become socially connected to their architect creators.

Currently, the lack of being able to construct creatures is an issue with this, and I know there are many many modders interested in custom reactions producing creatures. Working skill rate tags would be a tremendous boon to everyone as well!

Thanks!

I used to be on the bleeding edge of creature modding, but the only creatures that you could make were vermin versions. Nothing's changed, to my knowledge.

I fully and wholeheartedly support this, as it would allow me to finally put in some of the last pieces of my Call of Cthulhu mod, but until it's coded, there's nothing we can do about it. Golems are also part of my ideal vision of dwarf fortress, which is to say, that's how I think dwarven magic should be.

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.

If this was implemented the fallout mod could finally create robots. I fullheartedly agree with this!
