Dwarf Fortress featured in PC Gamer, sorta
« on: November 22, 2010, 06:15:53 pm »

This month's issue of PC Gamer (the one with Duke Nukem Forever as the cover story) has a half page article on Dwarf Fortress, featuring bits and pieces of Tim Denee's illustrated story of Oilfurnace. Thought it was cool and bay12 should know. :)

I like the little diagram of "how to pierce an aquifer". I never understood this method before, but that picture helps a lot. Also, I like the tiny wood-and-rope crane holding up a HUGE block of dirt!

Other questions:
  • Why does the mayor have a purple pimp hat with a huge feather?
  • Why did a mayor prone to mandating coins (especially adamantine coins!!) survive longer than it took to build him a suicide booth?
  • Why are the jewels stashed in a vault BEHIND the coin vault?
