I just started up the game for the first time, generated a world, then picked a starting location at a volcano, and chose to prepare carefully.  Then I decided against it and quit.  The game crashed while in the "cleaning objects" stage.

Same here. I selected a location on a new map (temperate woodland), went to the dwarf/equipment selection screen, decided to abort, and on the cleaning objects stage I got the crash.

I just experienced this bug when I decided I should go eat dinner before playing the new version.

crashed here too. i selected a location, then wanted to step back to play with the location selector, so i aborted and crashed.

Same bug.

(The reason was me changing my mind - I didn't want to spend time preparing. It'd be nice to 'follow in the footsteps of others', ie just use old starting builds.)

Incidentally, it didn't seem to corrupt anything, so it shouldn't be a high priority as far as bug fixings go. When I quit before the first embarking (i.e. when choosing a region) there was no problem.
