DFrevel quick question
« on: November 19, 2010, 07:53:48 pm »

Not sure where this should go, so I posted it here.

What would happen with the HFS if I kept the map reveled? Would it act as if it opened up, or would it stay as it would if I left it undisturbed?

It acts as if it opened.  And it causes the lag-death of your fortress even if you turn reveal off.  That's why you can't use reveal and play at the same time.

Damn. I hoped I could get away with keeping it on and stay playing...

Was there going to be any hope of selective reveal programs? I don't know anything about the way the data works but it seems lie we could reveal and unreveal just one level at a time. Would definitely screw us up a lot when we accidentally peaked into the spires but that would be our own faults.

This could be solved by doing what I do - run the full reveal first and mark the lowest safe spire levels. Then, only reveal to the highest of those.

How do you "only" reveal things? Reveal runs without any input that I could make out.

You can also turn off HFS in the worldgen parameters
