Aquaducts, still/again.

Pretty sure it's on the to-do list but...

I put the floodgates in before building it and the door system in case it was needed.

As an interesting effect the lava will flow all the way back up to the river. Luckily I have a couple of cut-out gates that allow me to keep my farms going. Although I can now flood my noble rooms with lava instead of water. Unfortunately that burns up the beds, stone furniture is unscathed though.

This is the narrowest part of the lava river I could find and that's the longest aquaduct you can build. <sigh> It's going to be hard work to build my demon-steamer room. I don't know what steam does to demons, if it's classified as fire or not. Anyone tried a gate/duct system using two connected aquaducts to cross the lava? Would that work or are they just sieves?

Steam is combination of water and fire and, in this game, neither. It becomes an uncrossable barrier for either immunity so it WOULD keep out those pesky demons.

However, you found a down-side to it; it isn't sustainable. The lava will burn its way to the river, creating steam on it's way. You could attempt to flood the room (or alternatively, have the demons destroy THAT floodgate first, then having the surviving frog demons destroy the OTHER floodgate to boil themselves, if you don't mind having a useless room afterward. And build a drawbridge just before the locked door so that a lavaman won't inadvertently immolate your keep by smashing his way in) and then let the lava loose.

Now, as for the aqueduct; is it made of rock? I'm asking because it may be the reason why aqueducts can't stretch across the lava; what use would a steel bridge be then, aside from convienence?

Also, two connected aqueducts won't be able to cross the lava either. Both entrances, as they are now, require an empty space underneath or they will act as an open floodgate. Meaning if two are used to cross, then the aqueduct will always be filled with lava.

Leg humping slime weasels.

I thought the bloody things transmitted from the tile adjacent to the opening. On the other hand I'll never lose another miner to "can't figure out how to get out of the channel I just dug before I drown" idiocy again.

Bah. I won't get to test my demon-steamer on this map then. The lava river dosen't get any narrower that I've found on it.

Edit: All steel duct there. Stone is a no-go on lava.

You can still test it if you haven't opened your floodgates next to the aquaduct yet. Just place either 2 channels or two statues next to the floodgates in the aquaduct.
