Crossing rivers
« on: November 12, 2010, 05:56:06 pm »

So, being fairly new to adventure mode, I have been going around and killing random ambushers. I've also visited some human cities, finding two meat sh...companions. But I have seen neither a shop nor a guest giver.

Talking to the people around, they tell me to get to the capital nearby. So I [T]ravel there, only to realise there's a river crossing my path. How do I get to the otherside?

EDIT: Also, why is the water in these rivers salt water?

Rivers near oceans are always salt water. Aquifers as well.

To cross them, you need to have a little swimming skill, or you need to wait for them to freeze. Most places they freeze at night.

Shops show up on the Travel map as yellow blocks (while houses show up as white blocks).

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

OK thanks.

I think I managed to get over the river, by trying Travel again. Now just trying to pinpoint where the city actually is. I believe the map below the coordinates in the upper left corner shows the town map, am i right?

Oh yeah, I'm running Mayday's graphic set...
