[38c] Fortress administrators are autoremoved on start
« on: May 30, 2008, 10:12:00 pm »

I was playing my fortress, in its infancy currently, and I noticed that I had no broker, no book keeper, no trader, and not even a Leader (which can only be unselected through death, I had believed.

I tried to fix this, by assigning my man to it (he has all the necessary skills, appraise, bookkeeping, etc) and I thought nothing more of it. Then I idly check my noble screen again, and he was booted from all his jobs.

Its bizarre, I cannot keep any of the starting administrating jobs on, it auto kicks my dwarf from them. Currently that isn't doing much harm, but soon its going to outright kill me due to lack of organization and a designated leader.

Unless the programming has mysteriously written in communism as an acceptable substitute for good ol' fashioned dwarven fascism (and or oligarchy in older fortresses) then this is a bug. (I tried to search the forums, but couldnt quite find a way to phrase it.

Hopefully its new and exciting.

Do you still have the save that is stopping you from making any appointments?  I'll probably be able to figure this out if I have such a save, though it might not help with the original reason there was no leader selected.  I'll need the region folder in some kind of zip/rar/7z, and any new objects that were added to the raw folder.  If it's less than 20 megs, you can send it to toadyone@bay12games.com.  You can also try The Dwarf Fortress File Depot which has a special section for bugged saves.
