Stuff you do while waiting for dwarves
« on: October 26, 2010, 08:26:17 pm »

My FPS is a high 35 right now, but I still find myself with time to read Lords and Ladies by Terry Pratchett

I usually work on stuff or go online, as is the case now.

Do you always look at it in ASCII?

You get used to it, I don't even see the ASCII.  All I see is blacksmith, miner, goblin.

I switch video inputs and play Halo, and check on my little buddies in between matchmaking rounds.  If something cool happens, I wind up getting kicked for idling, but that's okay.

Engraved on the monitor is an exceptionally designed image of FPS in Dwarf Fortress and it's multicore support by Toady. Toady is raising the multicore. The artwork relates to the masterful multicore support by Toady for the Dwarf Fortress in midwinter of 2010. Toady is surrounded by dwarves. The dwarves are rejoicing.

Hastily scribble notes in a journal, taking record of how long they take and what my stocks are at.  I want to make sure everything is on schedule.  I also note how I could improve everything, and what my next building will be.

When I play DF, I play DF.  I hardcore babysit dwarves, instead of running and coming back later.  I don't trust these buggers.
