Population_cap woes
« on: October 23, 2010, 04:42:23 am »

So, I am playing with a population_cap of 1.

The first year on my latest fortress was idyllic. I had zero immigrants in total, and I was quite beginning to enjoy myself, when the next year started with:

- 1 immigrant in spring (I welcomed him more or less)
- 6 immigrants in summer (one "Thief" who got atomsmashed; yes, I play a dated version right now, but I like it)
- 9 (!) immigrants in autumn.

I got rid of 7 of these 9 new immigrants with the help of my drawbridge and the "useless immigrants"-burrow (below the drawbridge). Then these invasions stopped, because nobody would dare to set a foot into such an accursed death-trap as my fortress. Fine with me.

However, why 9 invaders in the third wave, despite the fact that the starting seven dwarves already maxed out the population_cap?

I think a few immigration waves are hard coded to happen.

Yes, but they were supposed to happen in the first year, not in the second.

Why is the sky blue? You dealt with it, so problem solved.
