Some goblins popped up just in the moment the elven caravan arrived.
The gobbos killed an Elf (who ended up in my refuse pile when my Dwarfes cleaned up the mess) and two horses (with a lot of things to loot).

Am I in trouble now?

My military is far from being a bunch of killer machines - I'm still trying to understand how this really works in DF - and goblins are more than enough trouble for me at the moment. I really have no use for an invasion of an elven army seeking revenge.

Well, the game thinks that if it died on your embark location, it's your fault. So yeah, they may get angry about it, though probably won't begin sieges after one "accident".

My human liason got killed by the gobbos one in-game year ago, and that one death was enough for them siege me. Dunno about the elves though. Also, I'm using 40d18.

Now you have to dump all their stupid wooden toys and clothes, but other than that, no.

In 0.31.12, a Human diplomat/liaison got murdered by a goblin ambush, and they sieged me the next year; after I killed all of them in my drowning trap, their Law-giver arrived the next year (since I had also just gotten my Baron) and offered a peace treaty.

In my current 0.31.16 fortress, one Goblin siege killed the Elven diplomat in Spring and another Goblin siege killed the Human Guild Representative (and the entire Human caravan) in Summer. I'm looking forward to next year.
