Well you could also build a sort of self somewhat contained arena and pit them against things you can't train.

How would I get them to fight each other instead of maybe running to the middle of the ring and having tea with each other?  I suspect they're supposed to be somewhat friendly to one another so they don't kill each other when you discover them.

Also, I think I have a new theory on why so many of them died.  Lots and lots of them have dusts and vapors that cause all sorts of nasty problems.  I wonder if some clowns accidentally killed each other off with their syndromes.

With [PET] you can train them so I would imagine a tame one would attack one that's not tame automatically if that doesn't work then add goblins or another humans/elves if you can tame or not I'm pretty sure clowns automatically attack them.

If you're theory is right however just putting them in the same room long enough might kill them off.

If all else fails apply magma.

And water.   :P

Edit:

So far the project is going alright.  Got 165 cage traps set up so far but a good 40 of them are probably left over from outside to deal with those skeletal giant eagles that like to harass me from time to time.  Building hundreds of cage traps is the hard part but hopefully I can reach the fun point tonight.

FPS just dropped from 6 to 5.  I'm probably going to cut the preparations for the initial caverns short some and go ahead and breach the wall.  Once the initial surge is trapped I'll see if I can't run out and seal the castle from the rest of the cavern.  Then I set up the second set of traps and open up the basement.

EDIT: Caverns breached!  Dead empty.  There is nothing around anymore, even in the fortress.  Everything must have ran off into the caves.  I'm erecting walls quickly but so far nothing has found its way to me.

EDIT 2: Walls constructed, lead cages underway, had to switch from orthoclase to microcline for mechanisms but those are coming along nicely.  I have begun to trap the fortress.  Hopefully this'll work.

EDIT 3: FPS is dropping dangerously low, starting to flicker to 4.  Half the traps are set up in the place and I'm building walls to help channel traffic some.

Big Honkin' Spoiler

This is a masterful spoiler created by Drakeero.  All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality.  It relates to the attempt by Drakeero to quell the denizens of the clown car in October 2010.   :D

I kinda accidentally did it, but cancelled the fortress after FPS hit 4. Too bored.
Probably their dusts and poisons that trigger the infighting as they start to effect
each other and they're no longer destroyed by magma. (just my theory)

Now I can't seem to find any fortresses in .16.

Engraved on the monitor is an exceptionally designed image of FPS in Dwarf Fortress and it's multicore support by Toady. Toady is raising the multicore. The artwork relates to the masterful multicore support by Toady for the Dwarf Fortress in midwinter of 2010. Toady is surrounded by dwarves. The dwarves are rejoicing.

Well, the game is temporarily shelved for a few moments while I wait for some advice on the modding side of the forums.  Apparently removing [TRAPAVOID] didn't work for me but it works for other people so I dunno what's up.

I re-extracted the worldsav file and yes, the changes I made were written successfully its just, not working.
