Underground tree growing
« on: October 22, 2010, 04:34:03 am »

I just noticed something strange. I started to drain an underground lake, and when the water level became lower (maybe 1/7 or 3/7?), trees started to grow there super-fast. It isn't a problem yet, and actually was beneficial in my situation, but does anyone know the mechanism behind it? Do saplings get created even underwater, but can only grow up if the water is drained?

It's not an embark so much as seven dwarves having a simultaneous strange mood and going off to build an artifact fortress that menaces with spikes of awesome and hanging rings of death.

Some underground trees can grow underwater.
They didn't grew in super speed, you just saw them now.

I witnessed the exact same thing when a fiery blob FB took a swim in the underground lake and evaporated most of the water. Suddenly a colorful carpet of subterranean trees appeared out of nowhere.
