I'm saying it's probably flooding.  I can't see it yet, as I can't dig into the cotton candy to find the stick considering it's full of aquiferness.

So how do I dig wet candy?

How many layers of the thing are aquifer?  The whole tube, or just parts?  You can easily channel/stairway into the first layer and pump stuff to the edge of the map to drain away.
