Procedurally Generated Cosmology

I was thinking about how Toady hasn't really thought that much about the cosmology of the DFverse, and I came up with and idea. What if the cosmology was procedurally generated? You could end with an number of variations on certain models. Like a geocentric model where the planets and sun and moon(s) are just disks instead of spheres.

Even if we ended up with a cosmology fairly similar to our own, it'd be interesting see what variations could arise. I'd love to see a world with half a dozen moons.

Anybody got anything to add to this?

There's no technical reason that's impossible. The Three Toe Stories seem to vary, too. Sometimes one moon, sometimes several, I believe.

It'd tie into magic well, and possibly into things like night creatures... something comes out when only one specific moon is visible, or perhaps each combination of the six moons is a portent or something.

Could be quite interesting it might even tie with magic once it has been added. However it should be passble to see the night sky from time to time(even a description is ok).

Well, it already seems the planet's direction of spin can vary. That or it's always the opposite of Earth's.

He has thought about it, and if you check the devnotes and stuff there's some small details.  As it is, you can already get worlds with multiple moons.

Well, I've never got one. And I've generated at least a hundred or so worlds (might be an exaggeration, I don't keep count) since 31.01 came out, and they've always had only one moon.

But are you sure that that's a real moon and not a Dorfstar ready to spit out magma on your world?

We had a good Astrology/Cosmology discussion a while back which is very similar to this threads discussion. After an hour or so search i found it here . Its not that long but still worth reading i think.
