Did you know: There's a forum calendar?
« on: October 23, 2010, 12:41:28 am »

Tahin just noticed this... Just between My Messages and Members on the nav bar... is a button to THIS.

I've never even considered the possibility of this existing.

WHAT IS THIS? This is actually kinda useful. Birthdays, UN day. Halloween.

Was anyone else aware that this even existed?

Yep.

It loses its novelty when you realize that it only has the birthdays of people you would never want to meet on it.

I discovered this accidentally a little while ago, but, while the calender doesn't display their name, banned users will still have a cake next to their age on their birthday.

PTTG?? didn't know there's a calendar?  The button's right there.  Although the format looks pretty different from the last time I saw it, which I guess would have been another version.

But yeah, it only displays the birthdays of people who actually log their birthday obvious, which is basically no one who does more than stops by to make an account.

Yeah, I remember before the switch, there was a box down by the bottom of the index page that displayed birthdays.
Never actually checked the calender itself until recently, though.

There's also a tutorial.

Lol, I didn't notice, but I never bothered to look for it.

I don't recognize anyone with the same birthday as me. Wow, B12 has a lot of members. I think a quarter of the people who play DF log on to ask newbie questions because they can't figure how it works :P

I noticed one amusing thing though... there's a lot more birthdays on 8/8, 9/9, 10/10, 11/11, 12/12. Are people having babies on these elegant days on purpose or are people just being lazy when registering?

There's also a tutorial.

Does anyone else find it a little ironic that the tutorial for the forum interface is more developed than the included tutorial for Dwarf Fortress?

Not really, since the forum tutorial almost certainly came with the forum software.

Also, the forum software has a well-defined and consistant set of features, while Dwarf Fortress is still in development and nothing is guarenteed to be the final version yet.
