Unsure if this has been reported before, the bug list is a bit too unwieldy to navigate when i'm this drunk.

I've noticed Military dwarves will claim random clothing lying around, and leave it there for the duration of their lives. I'm not sure why, but I reckon it has something to do with layering and armor. They won't seem to pick up clothing to replace the stuff they were wearing when they were drafted. I can't move the items, and can't dump them so this is a major inconvenience when i've got piles of the stuff sitting in my entrance area from the multitude of murdered caravans, and my execution chambers which are usually working at full capacity whenever I get an immigration wave.

It's probably because they don't have rooms of their own.  Try assigning bedrooms to your soldiers and they should pick up the stuff and drop it there.

Military dwarves never clean up after themselves.

They don't claim random items, they just often drop half of what they're wearing so they can equip armor.

can you work-around by undrafting them, letting them put their stuff away, and then draft them again?

clumsy, I know... but I'm curious.

#1 They all have rooms with 3 cabinets.
#2 They are all champions so I am unable to undraft them.
#3 This is not clothing that they were wearing, it's sitting in the entrance area of my fortress and was dropped by some merchants I killed.
