get recources from closest stockpiles?

I put small stockpiles near the workshops but my dwarfs still try to get resources from far away, is there a way to solve this?

oh, problem is my dwarfs put the stones after I give orders build things, probably it was same case for my workshops too

When a dwarf gets a job that uses a material, they will choose the closest material to the dwarf, not the workshop. Dwarves also think of a material a z-level away as the same as being right in front of them, even if they have to path across the whole map to get it.

Put a burrow on the workshop and the stockpile (Along with all necessary life support) and assign the dwarf to it.

As far as I know, that should work.
