Caging Megabeasts?
« on: October 08, 2010, 05:22:20 pm »

I apparently have a legendary-status Two-Headed Ettin in a cage. I'm not actually clear on the status of titans/megabeasts - I got a popup notice saying 'Athathi the Two-Headed Ettin has come!' much in the same way you get the FB popups. Does that make him a megabeast or a titan, or what?

I had thought all those things were immune to traps, but after some fighting he tried to run into my fort and got caught in one of the cage traps.

I think Ettins are semi-megas. I forget how those work with regards to traps.

Forgotten Beasts are definitely trap immune. Colossi are not though, and neither are some others. Dragons are trap immune either.

Some (all?) creatures can be affected by traps if they get stunned or unconscious on top of a trap.

This is a feature, not a bug, correct?
You're playing Dwarf Fortress.  There isn't much of a distinction.

This doesn't include FBs, titans(I think) or clowns. For them you have to web them

Ah ok; for some reason I was under the impression that all megabeasts/titans/FBs/Clowns were trap immune. I see theres some variation in there.

Too bad you cant sell them to Traders!

Someone reported a cave-in causing a clown to get caged. Won't anything unconscious get caged?

An announcement regarding the arrival of a "Two-headed Ettin" seems a bit odd. And reduntant(Ettins are always two-headed).

Unless it's done stuff in the world's history(which it probably had), should there even be an announcement?

Also, from what I know, FBs are trap-, stun-, and web-immune, making them impossible to cage. Since titans are basically above-ground FBs, they're the same.

... Yes, the hugs are for everyone.  No stabbing, though.  Just hugs.

Ettins aren't Titans, though. They can be caged, and I have in .12 (and maybe .14, can't rememebr atm).
