None of this strikes me as surprising. In fact, pretty much the entire study appears to be par-for-the-course in terms of their results in comparison to my (and most likely a substantial fraction of others') expectations.

It was noted that Japan has the least amount of online friends while malaysia has the most. I wonder why...

Well, according to another filter only 20% of what I assume is the sample from Japan are "highly engaged in digital activities" so it makes perfect sense that the percentile value of people there bothering with social networking is also low - also there's only a 6% interest in said activities based on the nation-specific screen, so... I think we can assume that it's something cultural.
