Collapse the map onto (spoiler)
« on: October 05, 2010, 03:58:11 pm »

Yo.
I know it could be considered rude to suggest ideas from the peanut gallery (as I don't play DF actively) but what if you could collapse solid earth onto hell?  Would it make the area safe? Could you dig beyond hell after that?

Eh... I've never even seen hell.  The hell am I posting about this for?

The SMR layer will eat whatever you collapse, keeping it from reaching hell.

As an alternative, collapse the world onto the SMR layer, blipping an entire chunk of the earth out of existence.

You could also freeze hell over.
Which would be hilarious.

Nah. SMR gets in the way. No freezing.

No. Take a look at this diagram. No straight line down.

Yea, but every vein is different.  I've had some that go straight down.
