Is it possible to build a millstone supported by a gear assembly?

Probably, but you won't actually be able to use it (since you can't stand on the open space to operate it), so what's the point?

It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

Too bad. I was hoping I could hide my gears, but i guess the fort will have to be even more dwarfly then usual.

Try powering them from ABOVE!  Then your gear is hidden, and the millstone resides on a walkable tile?  This would accomplish what you want, no?

Just try it! Its not like you die IRL if Urist McMiner falls into magma.

Yes but the reactor I'm using is below the millstone room, so if I try to route my power from above then there will have to be an axle somewhere on my millstone level.

It's not crucial though,  I'll just put a gear asembly between two millstones and power that from below.

If that bothers you you could just use a quern. Also is there any sort of advantage to mill stones to make up for them requiring power?

I just realized two things. 1. For the Win and F___ the World have the same initials. 2. They have the same meaning in Dwarf Fortress.

Yes - they're extremely fast, and querns can reportedly make dwarves tired the same way screw pumps do.
