None. Once you reveal the cavern the randomly grow on muddy tiles. You don't even need to be in the cavern, you can breach it and then wall it off and they'll still grow.

I believe they may only grow on underground soil actually, not rock, but i ain't too sure.

I have an impression that all trees require 1 full unmined level under them, not just floor. Rock floor under a tree may change to a soil floor, I'm not sure if it is a bug or intended behavior.

On the other hand farming is possible on mudded constructed glass floors inside lava tube.

This seems to be true for trees growing on unmuddied soil - they'll only grow if there is a solid wall of soil on the layer beneath.  Trees appear to grow on muddied rock floor even if the layer below them is rock or mined out.
