Save system confusing

^Subject.

TinyPirate's suggestion of scanning the Save folder for the latest modified file isn't valid --- I tried that and oddly enough the latest file loads and older save.  :o What gives?

It steadily saves in a file that my comp says has been modified on September 26 (the date doesn't change).
