Invasions broken?
« on: October 02, 2010, 12:27:01 pm »

The dev blog thing says that Toady has fixed invasions. I haven't played this version but was going to start. What is wrong with invasions? If they just don't happen or something I will wait for 31.15

consensus at the moment is that is has something to do with the .14 worldgen yielding much smaller populations of goblins, and that they are much slower to show up because of it.  People have gotten goblins attacking them in year 5-6, but sometimes not at all.  Worlds genned in .12 and migrated to .14 have goblins attacking at year 2-3 as usual.

Ahh, OK. I generally mod goblins to breed about 3x faster anyway so I will make it 10x faster or something.

I'm actually curious if that changes anything, I kind of suspect it won't but I'd like to hear what happens.  Please pass on a little more info when you have checked that out?

It won't change anything, they still won't attack.  Check out Toady's comment there; they'll just huddle in their cave for eternity.  Gen up a world in .12 or wait for .15.

I have been experiencing regular sieges for about 10 fortress years (of a 12-13 year fortress).

In a world generated with .14?

It really had nothing to do with goblin populations, but yes, that's what everyone assumed was causing the problem.
