Mayor has been elected Mayor

I'm not entirely sure where to put it - in bugs or suggestions - but we've all seen this message, haven't we? This is not a re-election, the game simply doesn't keep track of the dwarf's previous occupation, so now the Miner's job is Mayor and we end up with this uninformative message. Requires an obvious fix.

What version is this?  Are there still multiple mayors?

No, this is only a message error present in all versions from 33a to d. Should look like "Foo Foobar, Miner, has been elected mayor" to be of any use, but that never happens.

This message you get whenever your mayor/trader/etc. gains a level in one of the skills, but the noble skill is still highest.
