Abandoned Human Fortress Double Abandoned [33d]
« on: December 07, 2007, 02:20:00 pm »

Dunno what other title would describe it.

I started a fort near a magma vent in a forest; looked like a sweet deal.

Well there was an abandoned human fort there that wasn't on the map, complete with unhappy human skeles.

They wiped me out quick, but I came back with a party of hardier stock.

The skeles were gone!  I guess this is because this wasn't a 'bad' area, no haunted no nothing.  Just randomly had an abandoned fort.

So now I'm in this abandoned human fort with a bunch of bored warriors.

Not sure if this is a bug or a feature oversight, but skeles associated with an abandoned fort on a non-scary tile should stick around if they aren't killed so that when reclaimed, the fort still has skeles.

Same here, with a kobold cave. After I abandoned (due to being reduced to a heavily wounded farmer slowly dying out on the rocks, and a miner and a carpenter who are permanently stuck resting) and reclaimed (receiving a whopping 64 dwarves), the kobolds weren't there. Out of sheer boredom I ordered the entire army to go hunt, and the 7 or so miners to dig away the mountain. Heh.

This comes from the original site becoming subordinate to your larger dwarf fortress site rectangle.  When the historical figures decide where they want to be, they see it as a dwarf fortress instead.  I'll handle it at some point.
