dfhack REC problem, can't interact with game v0.5.0.0 Windows DF v0.31.12 SDL

I'm using dfhack and as soon as I start dfweather, the game starts flashing the text REC near the top of the window, and I lose my ability to interact with the game using my keyboard.

Anyone offer any info or insight?

This shouldn't happen.

Which version of DF do you use it with?
Right. I'm blind.
