Can I still use wood and stone materials to build magma screw pumps?

You can... Wood however will dissolve/burn away after a while, and unless you use a magma-safe stone (of which there are now many more than just bauxite), the stones will melt too.

And I'm not sure you can make a giant stone corkscrew anyways... but i'm probably wrong on that one.

A pump using any wood components will almost immediately explode when set to pumping magma in 2010.  I suggest using green glass for all 3 components, it is infinite and 100% magma safe, so even if you have an accident and your pumps get completely submerged, they will survive.

If you must use wood, try nether-caps for Science. Thay have a fixed temp of 10000 U (32 F), and I don't think anyone's tested whether nether-cap pumps can be used to pump magma.

I did a test a few days ago with a nether-cap screw pump, and it actually didn't burst into flames - it ran for a few minutes (I didn't try running it longer), though it only actually pumped a small amount of magma since it was just connected to a short passageway (about 4 tiles long). I would've tested pumping into a large area and using a plain wooden screw pump for comparison, but it was too laggy due to having used reveal and spawning a bunch of HFS.

You may be on to something...

Do perpetually burning coal bins made of lead still work? If they do I want to see what happens when it's a nethercap bin.
