creature populations
« on: September 24, 2010, 08:01:47 am »

If the worldgen ended with 31k wolves, then I assume they'll be extinct after 31k are killed during play. Is the population divided by regions, or will one region keep spawning them until 31k wolves are dead?

I believe wolves will just spawn from thin air, I don't think you can actually make things go extinct from the world.

It is certainly possible to drive a species to extinction by killing them in fortress or adventure mode.  I think these populations are world-wide rather than linked to biomes, but I don't know for sure.
