So, a Skeletal Giant Eagle has been plaguing my most recent fortress for quite some time.  So much so that it actually became named.  But revenge at last, I caught him in one of my cage traps!

Now, the question is, what can I do with skeletal Giant Eagles, can I still tame them and have them guard my fortress?  Are they absolutely worthless and should I just murder him?  I'm really at a loss, especially with wiki down.

Undead creatures cannot be tamed.

Even if the creature was alive, you would not want to tame it, since it's already an enemy of your civilization (by virtue of having killed some of your dwarves) and will thus remain hostile even after being tamed.

It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

Damn I was afraid of that.  Can I safely pass him off to a caravan or should I just have my military poke at him until he's dead?

You can only sell tame animals. Otherwise your dwarves release the monster when you tell them to trade it. It's a very unforgiving system.

You can trade animals easily.

Just trade the cage that contains the animal.

Trouble is, it doesn't always work the way you expect it to...

I do this all the time, haven't had any problems with it yet.

Just the other day I offered several cages with plump helmet men to the dwarven empire. The plump helmet men were in cages, and I selected the cages they were in for trade.

The dwarven empire was so ecstatic they sent me a queen.
