I can't seem to do fast travel

I don't play adventure mode much but the wiki and every where else says to fast travel i hit shift-t. I do that and i get a big over map but after that I can't move or do anything. What am I doing wrong? How do i fast travel? I'm not hurt or injured so I don't think thats the problem. Little help?

Maybe you are surrounded by mountains with only a diagonal spot where you can move to
(mountains are inaccessible via fast travel... you can, however, cross mountain tiles by using normal travel)

OK thats my problem. I'm in a mountain range. Thanks you for responding. Getting out is gonna suck, there's mountains all around me. maybe I should just start over.
