Garbage dumps
« on: September 07, 2010, 12:27:01 pm »

So I have set up a garbage dump, but my dwarves won't throw anything marked for dumping in it. It is a 1 tile square that I channeled through the floor, and in the level underneath it is a big pool of magma. I've tried unmarking the dump, and then marking it again, but that doesn't work. Also, in the activity zone screen, next to garbage dump is the number (0), although I'm not quite sure what that means.

Thanks in advance.

Also, I have checked the wiki, but I either haven't understood it or it doesn't mention a soloution to my problem.

If I remember correctly, you want to designate that a pit, not a garbage dump.

Dumps have to have floors, pits must not. (IIRC)

Did you designate the hole itself? Designate the tile next to the hole instead.
