frogs fall in the chasm

I had tamed a giant toad and it was happily swimming along a water channel that crossed over the chasm via aqueduct. as soon as it hit a portion of aqueduct that wasn't over firm ground, it fell into the chasm. poor frog  :(

Yes, This happens every once in a while. The best way to resolve this is to bridge off all the sinkholes to the river. That will prevent anyone else (including your lovely giant frogs) from falling in.

Is there a way to 'block' movement through an aqueduct (that goes over the chasm)?  that was my fine breeding stud frog and frog production is halted!
