Well I'm updating, so that would be a bad idea. I took the liberty of dorfing myself, as our manager, Inod.

Journal of 'Charred_gp' Neciksibrek, Manager of Pearlrings

1st of Granite
Ugh, what a nightmare this is going to be... My first day on this job, on top of my managerial duties and record keeping. The military wiped out the rest of the invading goblins, but not without casualties. Our legendary macedwarf and an idiotic bowyer who needed his socks died before the invaders could be driven out. The macedwarf shall be given a proper burial.

After this attack, I noticed a massive flaw in our security: Our bridge could be walked around! This will be fixed IMMIDIATELY with the addition of some new walls.

Finalized the hospital, adding some tables so our one doctor can do his work. How we have survived this long without a real hospital amazes me. I also ordered all stray animals, save for a pair of breeding horses to be butchered. Especially ALL THE DAMN CATS.

12th of Granite
Another useless bowyer died, after yet ANOTHER mountain goat killed him for wandering off. The wall is finally finished, so THIS time, we can actually defend ourselves against the greenskins.

Your not playing Dwarf Fortress right if you don't see a message saying a Kitten (tame) had died in some horrible manner over and over again.

Sorry if it seems like I'm knocking you personally, but my dwarf has been unhappy recently, so I've been trying to work off of that. More soon!

No your not at all. Just be glad the stock piles are a little more organized then before. You may want to make soap, and I believe i mined out some pewter for casts.

22nd of Slate

Some damn migrants arrived, bringing our population up to 54. I've drafted some into a new military squad of marksdwarves, as backup for our brave soldiers.

A second bridge was built today, in the main entrance. It shall serve well as a secondary defense against our foes. I also dug an alternate entryway into the lower levels, blocking off the stairs above with new flooring.

Well I'm kind of a stickler for keeping things near the surface, so someone else will have to do that :P

17th of Felsite
Elves! Ugh, I hate elves. And goblins! Dammit! I ordered the bridges brought up, which was thankfully done before they could get inside. On a similar note, I've begun working on a pit for our many prisoners. I feel once it is complete, and has some safety measures installed, our military will be that much better off with live practice.

20th of Felsite
A second ambush today. This time the elves noticed it before entering. Good. I don't want any greenskins getting near our fort this time. We need more training done. The basic pit is done, but we have yet to install any security for it. The plan is to put a floodgate to the south, triggered by a lever above. With luck, it will make sure any failures will be contained.

24th of Felsite
Yet another ambush. Fuck it, as of now we are in full lockdown until further notice. Bridges are locked, military is watching unless they start looking unhappy. Have a nice goddamn day, Pearlrings!

9th of Hematite
The pit is finished, and has a drowning trap included if things go bad. The goblins seem to have left, but I'm giving it another week.

17th of Hematite
After seeing a good deal of success from our pit, and no sign of any new invaders, I have lifted the lockdown. Our metalsmith has also been taken by the fey, so we shall see if he doesn't go insane before we can get what he needs...

18th of Hematite
Or...not. Another ambush came in. God damn it I hate them. They incapacitated two dwarves before dying and they wont. SHUT. UP. By Armok, I'm about to toss the two of those babbling fools into the magma sea! (seriously, the ENTIRE announcement log is just 'uristmcretard cancels rest:Interrupted by goblin spearman)
