[33d] Farmers -> Bone carvers
« on: December 02, 2007, 02:29:00 am »

In my current fort I've had 3 farmers (out of 3) go into moods and choose to take up bone carving. They all had grower as their highest skill with at least novice (usually more) in brewer, cook etc... as well.

Why does everybody think this is a bug?  Strange moods don't mean that they always do something with their highest skill.  They usually do something related to their likes/dislikes or with whatever (random) idea gets into their heads.  I just had an herbalist/planter/brewer/cook make a siltstone ring.

If you're calling the 3 bone carvers from 3 farmers in a row as a bug, I think its too early to say because it could just as easily be a coincidence.  But at 4 or 5, yeah I guess I'll consider it a problem.

Does everyone understand the difference now?

I had a peasant become a woodcarver in 33d, which was different.  Bone carving is cool... before mine usually became stonecrafters.

well farmers class jobs dont have skills that are allowed to become moods right?
you cant tell them to go mill a legendary plant into artifact flour

so...

they pick a craft
or carpentry/masonry

usually the easier ones before things like metal and jewelry

if you train you farmers in some masonry they will go do mason moods

this is not a bug since as said, farmers dont have artifact type items they can make

Bonecarving fishers go extremely well with large turtle spawning pools.

In the old version farmers would often choose cooking for their mood.
