[33d] Woodworker shows up with wood cutting enabled but
« on: December 01, 2007, 11:55:00 am »

I don't know if this is a bug or intentional, but I'm posting this in case it was a mistake.

I just got an immigrant who arrived as a 'woodworker', with novice carpenter, novice wood cutter, and novice bowyer skills, and he had the wood cutting job enabled when he arrived - but he didn't bring an axe.

Axes and picks have to be included in your starting package. Right as the game starts, Dwarves with the appropriate skills will raid your wagon to get equipment.

I believe (from my non-scientific observations) that an immigrant will come with an axe if he is a WOODCUTTER but not just a WOODWORKER (even though they usually have skill in woodcutting).

Like Miners come with their own picks.

(You don't need to include these in the starting build for MINER and WOODCUTTER immigrants.)

Of course, this is not scientific. =p

I've noticed the same thing.  It's only those labourers who are specialised in exactly that one field, and no others, which bring the appropriate tools with'em.  That's fine with me.  You always ended up with a glut of axes before, and inevitably armed your first melee troops with the tools your carpenters discarded.

Correct, but has nothing to do with the original post. Immigrants come with their own armor and tools as appropriate to their jobs.
