I had been assuming that they were dents, and not any actual object, thus explaining their seemingly-untouchable nature.

You have to use the refuse order in the order list and tell dwarves to not ignore used ammunition they will go and promptly pick them up and put them in the refuse pile.

Is this so?  What is the object name, then, for what shows up in your refuse pile?  I should be able to see it on the stocks screen.

I call lies. There is no used ammunition option in the refuse section. There is on in the forbid section, but I think that refers to whole, reusable ammunition.

If dwarves decided to live in trees like hippies, they'd still do it better than the elves.

oops sorry didnt notice this till now i meant the forbid menu. ironically though you need to allow refuse outside to be gathered as well.

Your not playing Dwarf Fortress right if you don't see a message saying a Kitten (tame) had died in some horrible manner over and over again.

I thought this was going to be about having a litter in ASCII. So here's a litter in ASCII:
C <- Mac Daddy
CCCC <- Run of the mill
c <- Runt
