[40d] Problem: Creature names missing
« on: August 20, 2010, 07:55:52 pm »

Hi, there!

A friend of mine started making a mod which also contains Beholders and Guaths from DnD. It's not really important what they are, but although they do appear in Legends, the beholders (I think) only appear as "creatures".

To answer the obvious questions:
Yes, I use a clean 40d with only the beholders and guaths added.
Yes, I deleted /data/objects.
Yes, I genned a new world.

With that in mind, does anyone know why this happens and how to avoid it?
Thanks in advance!

Spoiler: Creature entries (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Body definitions (click to show/hide)

I've fixed everything I knew, but it wasn't enough.

Okay, I haven't checked the biome tokens before which are ALL WRONG!
I fixed them now and guaths appear as guaths in legends mode while there are still creatures which only show up as blank spaces, probably the beholders because I didn't change anything else.

Looks like the one with the three-word name doesnt get the translated name, because there is not enough space on the screen.
If a name is completely empty, set in worldgen "cull unimportant historical figures" to No.

Perhaps add INTELLIGENT and SPEECH:elf.txt to the creatures. And CHILD and LITTERSIZE, but probably the megabeast won't be breeding.

==OldGenesis mod== by Deon & TomiTapio. Five wood classes, four leather classes. Nine enemy civs. So much fine-tuning.

Yeah, but they're megabeasts, so they shouldn't be unimportant.

Anyway, after putting the beholder and the guath in a separate creature_behold.txt, it worked. Somehow. Thanks, anyway!
