Do Wardogs retain gender or breeding properties?
« on: August 17, 2010, 09:07:15 pm »

Hello i think i got myself into a pickle with my dog pop. I planned that for the first couple of years war dogs would be my defense.

Now the issue is that I turned my animal trainer to repeat.  Now i have 60 war dogs 0 pups and only 2 adopted non war dogs (luckily a breeding pair).

The "view creature" text still  says their gender   but once they are adopted/trained  do the dogs still breed?

You can, of course, simply divert the river through your dining hall, if you want to take the easy way out.

War dogs will still breed.  Sometimes they'll even give birth in the middle of combat.

i dont see any reason not to just make all your dogs into their war counterparts, it is a direct upgrade.

thats what I was thinking / am thinking now that i am over my little panic attack. though the only reason why 2 dogs are adopted is because they were adopted before the handlers got to training it.

There's a population cap on Animals (per type).

AIUI when you have 50+ dogs, no new dog pregnancies will occur, the extra 10 were probably already pregnant (I'm sort of assuming you didn't embark with 60 dogs).

I suspect what happened was that as each puppy grew up it was trained into a War Dog (due to the repeat), which is why you only have War Dogs & no puppies, as they die off new generations should occur.
