As the title says, secretive mood, needs bones and metal bars. It took the bones fine, and there are 3 iron bars at the smelter right next to them. Do they need a specific material for some things, or what?

I've just been making bars over and over again in the hopes they'll take them.

Thanks in advance.

He may need more than one stack of bones.  If he demands bones and metal bars, and won't take bars, try providing more bones.

It says they're tasked in the t menu, but I'll give it a shot. Thanks again.

Edit: Yeah, there's a skull in the butcher's shop next to them and they're not going for it.

Edit2: Scratch that, apperently it wouldn't take a skull for whatever reason. Thanks again again.  :P

skull is not bones. skulls are a seperate item, and never used for moods.
He needs more bones.

What type of mood is it - a bone carver or a metalsmith?
If it's a metalsmithing mood, look at the dwarf's thoughts and preferences - if there's a metal listed, it's very likely that you will need that exact metal.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

I hope Bonecarvers won't insist on the bones of a specific creature... "I must have Dragon Bones!".

It was a bonecarver, but the mood has been resolved.  :)
