Aiming thrown enemies: possible?
« on: August 11, 2010, 11:36:51 pm »

I'm not quite sure I understand the mechanics of throwing... as it is now, even when my adventurer is a superhumanly strong master wrestler, throwing enemies of any size (groundhog through yeti) seems to result in me just picking them up and dropping them a turn later. Is there any way to throw them in a direction, or is that random and based on wrestling skill?

You can't aim thrown enemies.
And you only throw them if you
1: Are strong enough.
2:Have a high wrestling level.
3: Are big enough to be able too.

If you are good enough you can throw vultures as a human for example.

The direction of your little missile is totally random, and if you have bad luck you can throw it into yourself.
Happens often.

You can throw [small] creatures, and vermin, just like you would a bolt or an arrow, or even dirt, blood, vomit, water, food, booze (who would throw booze?), and ichor, they all train throwing skill and so get better and more accurate the more you throw.

Infact they are the bane of some other creatures existances...

you could also throw 'dead' enemies if you wanted to, though things like demons and giants can be really cumbersome.

even with a superhumanly strong human with master wreslting I could only throw a fox one tile away. (throwing anything larger sort of makes them airborne for one turn however., in 40d I renember throwing other humasn very far.)

I think it may be random... As a werewolf I was throwing a dog around and it flew 5-7 tiles each time I did it.

Werewolves are pretty damn big, though, more than twice the size of a dwarf, so that makes sense.

Most adventure mode functions aren't fully implemented yet, I expect Toady will fix this at a later date (it'd be fun to kill an elf child by throwing his/her own parents at them).
