simple underground
« on: August 15, 2010, 10:36:02 am »

I'm planning to do an underground megaproject and i don't want the walls to have all kind of silly colors. Is there a way to gen a world with less frequent minerals?

New question! If I were to remove elves [INTELLIGENT] tag in the raws, would it work?
Dwarf Fortress: Where taking a creatures intelligence is an accepted way of modding.

I'd like to tone down ore veins and gem clusters as well.

All else fails obsidian, lots of it. Also, obsidian comes in any color you like; as long as that color is black.

Well you can delete entries from the Matgloss_stone_layer/mineral file until you only have one type of stone left.

Or I think Dtil transmutes things if you really need to go that far.

You can also use the wiki to look up stone layers that aren't going to contain a lot of veins.

Chalk this up to another reason I think we should have an in-game paint option.

Like, designate an area to have a certain color and -bam- it's colored. It'd be too much of a hassle for the dwarves to manage in-game painting.

Oh, but think of the possibilities. All those toxic pigments (arsenic, anyone?). What could possibly go wrong?

Let's face it: If anyone could drown in a paint tray, it'd be Urist McPainter.

Messing around with magma for the first time.  Still haven't produced a !!dorf!!, but I've discovered the wonders of not having to worry about fuel, i.e. SMELT EVERYTHING IN SIGHT.  HEY URIST, BRING ME THAT KITTEN, LET'S SEE IF WE CAN SMELT THAT TOO.
