The Continuing Military Fiasco
« on: August 09, 2010, 10:57:13 pm »

Hey team, i posted a little while ago about military dwarves not gaining experience, a problem that was rectified by reverting to V.10. However a new problem has appeared:

My military dwarves flat out refuse to pick up equipment.

It started out innocently enough. I had them use their training swords and they are for the most part grand masters in their weapons, there were no problems until...

I decided to upgrade to steel. I made enough steel armor and weapons for everyone. They are all sitting waiting in the stockpile to be loved and cared for, however they are not used.

I have tried almost everything, i know about uniforms and everything, i know i dont only have to create the uniform and assign it, so please no posts like that,

I have tried assigning them weapons individually, creating new squads, making a surplus of weapons, forbidding all the armor in the fortress and reclaiming it, everything!

WHY WONT THESE DWARVES LISTEN TO ME

They are currently standing naked in the barracks doing "Individual combat training", an image almost too gruesome to imagine...

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated>

p.s. I have also tried converting back to Version .12, same thing happens

Did they become attached to their training weapons or even gave them names? They could refuse using another weapon then.

You could try:
- set up a weapon/armor/ammo stockpile in the barracks only accepting the good stuff
- lock your squads inside the barracks
- disband all squads
- unpause for a while
- recreate the squads
- optionally forbid all the armor/weapons you dont want them to wear beforehand
- wait (! just a wait a few more minutes, sometimes it will take ages until they finished their current task and gear up)
