I created a world, and decided that I'd write down everything that I did with multiple adventurers, then wrote them in different voices for each character. Some things never happened (Like Sarvesh being female instead of male) But other than that, this is all true things that really happened.
*** Entry 1
Ruby, Male Dwarf.
21st of Slate, Year 5
My name is Ruby Daggerblade. I've left the mountainhome to go out on my own, through the harsh wilderness, snow, and creatures of many kinds. As a trained Axedwarf, I believe I have the skill to travel across this entire world. I will spend 3 days to prepare, trading my belongings to others in trade for armor and tack.
24th of Slate, Year 5
The day has begun, and by the time I broke camp, it's just before noon. The wind is blowing from the west, but the sky seems clear. I'm going to travel north, and hopefully get out of this snow.
I believe I am about halfway across this tundra, but I also note that the moon is up during the day, almost onto the sun. I do not know if this is an ill portent or not, but I shall be careful.
Soon, the tundra fell under my feet, and became sand. This is quite cold for a desert, however.
I came across a herd of camels, and I wonder why they are wandering in lands this cold. They are shaggy beasts; I would wish to skin them and possibly gain some more food. I will attempt to hunt.
Exultations! I have caught one of these camels, and have torn it asunder with my axe. I cooked it, and ate a small bit of it. While eating, I noticed a green, lush land to the northeast, so I shall travel that way.
Trees! I have found trees, large plants which can be refined into wood, or burned. This is truely a green, healthy land! Right now, these plants are few and far between, but I'm told that they will soon become more common.
The white sand underneath me has become dirt, and then, finally grass. I saw a herd of horses off in the distance, but they are too noble of beasts for me to slay unless I were dreadfully hungry.
The sun is getting lower, and I believe it is time for me to sleep. I hope I will not be attacked in my sleep.
I say goodnight, to this day.
25th of Slate, Year 5
I awoke this morning before dawn, when the stars were out, after a very strange dream.
A young human girl was climbing ontop of trees, when a great beast of scales and fangs showed up, spitting acid onto me. The girl leaped into action, wielding a great blade larger than her entire body. It reminds me of the Jabberwocky and the Vorpal blade. This young gal must be the woman in that story, the mad one.
I have no clue what such a dream means, but the acid-spitting beast must represent some danger, and the mad girl must represent the race of humans. I will travel to human lands to perhaps find someone who may be able to protect me from said danger.
After the sun rose, I ran across two dwarves from my mountainhome; miners who had come to scan the earth for the greatest of metals, Adamantine. One of the miners, Fath Orgardson, spoke with me for some time, and I thought he would have made a wonderful addition to my adventure. However, he declined my offer to join me. I wished him luck, and went on my way.
For the most of a day, I've been wandering through these hills, and nothing of note has happened. I note that there are many monkeys in the area, although they run away before I can catch them or get a better look.
While walking along, I tripped on a branch, and disturbed a large nest of small insects. I noticed one roach with odd red markings, so I have decided to keep him and name him Ung Rak, after the name of a beetle in a story for young dwarves.
I have spent all day walking, and still nothing of note happened. I had my meal, but instead of drinking water, I decided to drink spare blood from my axe, preferring that to wasting clean water that I may need.
The wind from the west blew cold into the area, and I watched as nearby ponds and pools of water froze. I decided to sit and watch the sun set. One of the monkeys who had been following me leaped down at me to try and grab something, but I plunged my axe into it's chest, and it was killed. I decided to take it to the human town I was going to, for humans are known as traders, and they might want the supplies taken from an animal's body.
This day ended as I saw a great body of water in the distance, the stars reflected by it. I had never even known there was an ocean here. I shall sleep, now.
26th of Slate, Year 5
I had no dream this eve, and woke up after dawn broke, but before noon. I see signs of civilization to the north, so I will go find out who lives there.
While walking, I found a herd of elephants tromping around the area. Having read the story of Boatmurdered, I instantly went into a martial trance, axe at the ready. At least one of these gargantuan beasts will be going down.
*** Entry 2
Sarie, Human Female
11th of Felsite, Year 5
This morning, a trader arrived with a story to tell. He was avoiding the cruel elephants that inhabit this area, and he ran into an odd sight; a skeleton of both an elephant, and a dwarf. He had slain the elephant, but died of his own injuries. Among his belongings was this journal. I bought it from him, wishing for a journal of my own, but paper is expensive and hard to come by. Today, I was talking to Orid, and he mentioned wanting to become an adventurer. I asked him if I could come with, and he said I could. Orid's a nice guy, with long red hair and pale skin. He's a Lasher, which means he uses a whip. Not useful for most fights, but in some of them, he excels. My weapon of choice is a bow; that way we don't have to chase things for miles. I'll try talking to the Warlord; maybe he'll have a job for us.
Hode didn't have anything for us, so I guess we'll just have to wander. I think we'll go West, toward one of the Dwarf Fortresses that they call Mountainhomes.
12th of Felsite, Year 5
We've been walking all day. Nothing. Orid and his 'super sensitive self' is starting to get on my nerves. "Do you want some food?" "I have spare water if you want, Sarie." Pfft, he just wants in my pants.
Gah, hopefully something'll happen tomorrow.
13th of Felsite, Year 5
We finally reached this 'Mountainhome', after running into a group of migrating dwarves and asking for their help. I've been running on no sleep since we left. Although the stars are kind of pretty. . .
I've spent the day talking to a dwarf named Stukos. He has this great big steel spear, and he seems kind of badass. He asked if he could join me, and of course I'll let him join! He's crude, and always drunk, but at least he isn't like Orid.
Amost Rimad'blel came to meet us. He's the king of this fortress, and he's pretty big news. He doesn't have any jobs for us, though. Must be boring, being king; otherwise he wouldn't have come and met me and Orid.
Hmm. . .
15th of Felsite, Year 5
The king is dead! Orid was bruised up quite a bit, and had some trouble breathing, but all's good. He seems oddly remorseful, and I don't see why. They're just dwarves, not even human! Yes, they have some skill with metal, but they're not -people-.
I ended up deciding to kill the king, and placed an arrow in his skull. I'm starting to run out of arrows, however, so I decided to travel to the nearest human town we could. It's not mine and Orid's town, but I should be able to get more arrows here.
Stukos did not like the idea of us killing his king, so he tried telling somebody about it. I had to kill him and his friend, but I'm keeping the spear; it seems useful.
Orid's been oddly quiet all day. I wonder what's up with him?
I've spent the entire day thinking. . . Maybe I should go back? If I could kill every dwarf in that fortress, I could claim it as my own! Not a bad idea, right?
16th of Felsite, Year 5
I've decided; I'm going back there to deal with every dwarf in the place. When I asked Orid, he seemed reluctant, somehow. I decided that it wouldn't be hard if he lost his life in the battle.
And off we go!
We've found two caravans full of dwarven gear, and one mining expedition. It was a cinch to take them out and steal some of their supplies.
17th of Felsite
While fighting the dwarves today, I was given a name; Quabibu Tuthru. A dwarven priest declared that of me, weilding an axe. I slayed him, and moved on to the next. I don't know what Quabibu Tuthru means, but I shall take that title to heart, even if it was a threat. I will take the insult, the threat they gave me, and I will turn it around upon them. I don't know how many more dwarves there are, but they're going to show up when I start burning their home down.
Night has fallen. The dwarves are all dead. I've been having trouble breathing for quite some time now, after a burly dwarf got past Orid and smashed my chest up. Orid, however, has a broken leg. I hope he'll get better; He fought like a demon unleashed, continuing to slay even when his leg was broken by a dwarf with a hammer. He's saved my life so many times today; the dwarven sheriff gave him a name as well; Cusith Quelge. Tonight we sleep, a the forest being a funeral pyre to dwarves all around us. The fortress is ours!
*** Addendium
My name is Orid Cusith Quelge, the Embrace of Guile, the dwarves call me. This eve, my hidden love, Sarie, suffocated in her sleep, from the smoke and her crushed lung. I will make my way back home, and hopefully, get my leg looked at. These dwarves won't get away with this.
*** Entry 3
15th of Hematite, Year 5
My name is Onyx. I have found this journal among the rubble of our great fortress, under a headstone that we believe to be Sarie the kingslayer's grave. While undigging this body to cremate her, an enraged human with long hair attacked us. He roared in anger as his whip stung me, but I made short work of him.
Sending warriors to kill our king. The humans have gone too far. They will have to be punished. I shall collect a group of dwarven warriors, and we shall assault the human capital.
25th of Hematite, Year 5
Preparations are being completed; I've found two likeminded people, both axedwarves, to assist me on my journey of vengance. We are planning to bring some metal ores to the village, under the falsehood that we wish to show said metal to the Warlord, and perhaps start up a trade.
This is false.
Instead we shall show him how sharp our blades are.
And then we will take a hold inside that inn, and wait. and watch. as the humans come into this building.
And we'll slaughter every single one of them.
5th of Malachite, Year 5.
We have arrived. Cilob and Sarvesh both did their act of 'guarding' perfectly, keeping the humans from nosing too close into my bag, where my hammer lies. We are inside the inn now, ready to act. The stars are out, and we're being perfectly silent. They will never see it coming.
6th of Malachite, Year 5.
The humans are dead. They didn't even know we were attacking; only the Warlord knew, and we killed him first. Then we went to every hut, every room, and with a single smash of my hammer, every single human in this town is now dead. My comrades weren't even needed.
I still feel that the humans need to make reparations. Blood for blood. I shall go to the final town they own, and I shall slay them all, using the same masquerade as I used last time. But this time, I hope they awake. I relish for battle.
7th of Malachite, Year 5
While travelling, an elephant showed up and assaulted Cilob. Her spine was heavily bruised, and I don't know if she will be able to fight. Sarvesh seems worried about her; I think he fancies her. Bah, not my matter. Although her beard -is- quite luxurious. . . . I had better keep my mind on the task we are about to perform.
8th of Malachite, Year 5
I had a conversation with Sarvesh this evening at camp, it turns out that his own son was killed in the battle of the Kingslayer. I WILL. I will avenge him.
*** Addendium
Onyx died in the battle. Sarvesh died as well, but Cilob was picked up by a group of migrating dwarves, and brought to the mountainhome.
Onyx was named Ustuthstodir Imketh, or Volcano of Justice posthumously. She was labelled with 35 kills, including Orid the Embrace of Guile, and Hode the Warlord.
