Possibly the funniest drinking game I've ever played.

It involved swinglign large beer can sticks (taped together ofc) at other beer can sticks.

Ah, the wizard stick; it's a very amusing way to keep track of how many you've had.  I was at a party where that was going on a few weeks ago, but only got to level 6 'cause I was driving home (last beer at 10:00, drove home at 2:00 after about 15 glasses of water between; don't drive drunk kids!).  One guy finished the night at level 20; we referred to him as an epic wizard.  It was amazing how many people were able to drink their height in beer.

There was only one battle, however.  Though only if you can call two level 14-16 wizards drunkenly swinging around staves while desperately trying to remain upright "battling."  Each wizard has his "second" whose purpose was to catch the wizard if he stumbled over.  It ended with one wizard grabbing my tin foil axe (it was a costume party too; I came as Paul Bunyan) at which point he was forcefully subdued and told to go to bed.

Remember kids, alcohol is fun, and watching other people completely wasted is even more fun, but don't be a dick after you've had a few, and don't do anything stupid, like drinking and driving.

I remember in Grade 4, I read a newspaper article about Wizard Sticks and did a group project on them.

I don't see the appeal, really, though I started drinking in the Maritimes, and nobody ever drank alcohol out of cans.

What I find more amusing though, is that the wiki article. It seems like the author(s) are having a hard time reconciling the ridiculous nature of the game and the serious and objective tone of Wikipedia.
